Site Closure

Once environmental studies are complete, TSI facilitates safe re-development of contaminated properties through the application of a variety of strategies approved by the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP). We have successfully closed sites ranging from simple underground storage tank releases through complex voluntary clean up projects.

TSI’s assessment and corrective action strategies include:

  • Groundwater monitoring: verification of contaminant degradation and migration (fate & transport)
  • Natural attenuation: Utilizing a site’s capacity for natural remediation to reduce contaminant concentrations to acceptable levels
  • Innocent owner protection: Identification and documentation of alternative sources of contamination that may have impacted a given site in order to provide liability protection to the client
  • Aquifer characterization: Evaluation of a site’s water-bearing zones to classify the aquifer and determine clean-up standards
  • Baseline documentation: Define and document a site’s current environmental condition prior to new ownership so as to shield the client from future liability
  • Voluntary clean-up: Strategic application to and acceptance in the state’s Voluntary Clean-up Program (VCP) in order to successfully attain a Certificate of Completion for a site
  • TSI uses analysis of a site’s natural resources to better define the risk of a contaminant. Certain factors, such as the PH of soils, the depth to groundwater, or the location of points of exposure can be used to prevent unnecessary future delineation or remediation of contaminated properties, resulting in a cost effective site closure.
